Speak with SpreadKOM!

This showcase is about alternative communication systems that are not dependent on traditional ways of communication. Starting from the project SpreadKom, we'll present how it is possible to use technology to emphasize our natural senses to communicate and navigate in natural and urban environment. It's about spreading information or signals without using radio waves or any kind of central system of communications such as telephone networks, internet or GPS. It is about alternative forms of propagating information and linking people together without any additional equipment, by using only sound. In the natural environment it helps us find our way and glean useful information such as the proximity of water sources or wind speed, offering an alternative to existing navigation systems.

Similar systems of communication have been around for ages and are still found among some African tribes, which communicate over long distances with sound telegraphy using specially designed drums or whistles. This type of communication requires of the user to apply their own senses, which revives forgotten natural capabilities that have an immense potential to form a safer and more stable information system immune to interception or spying.
The lecture will consist also of a detailed explanation of the project Spreadkom and an open debate with questions.

During the showcase, we will deliver bird whistles to the public, teach them how to whistle like a bird and then interact with the project.
