Salma is a product designer and a passionate photographer. She graduated in 2013 from the faculty of Applied Arts and Sciences, at the German University in Cairo, with BAAS degree (bachelor of Applied arts and Sciences) in Product Design.

Design is her thing, in fact all design and art, and through it she believes she can help change the world. Salma is the co-founder and designer of Menn Baladha - a design initiative that aims at introducing design to the Egyptian crafts production sector, bridging the gap between the Egyptian craftsman and the local market. The efforts are aimed at trying to connect those two by developing the production process that Egyptian craftsman go through and changing the perception of the market of them.

Salma has been playing a role in the maker scene in Egypt since it's early days in 2009. She is the co-founder of Cairo hackerspace - Egypt's first hackerspace. She was also a member of the founding team of Fablab Egypt - Egypt's first fablab. In 2013, she joined the founding team of icecairo - the green technology innovation hub which is part of the emerging international network of icehubs, working as a product designer, graphic designer, and space host.

She enjoys seeing the world through a camera lens and capturing everyday life, she has shot more than 9 photo shoots with the fashion designer Deana Shaaban, some of which were mainly conceptual. She recently decided to continue her journey on her own as a freelance product designer and photographer, and follow her dream of working in the social design field. Salma likes traveling, cycling, dancing, pasta and blue skies.
